Her research interests include environmental assessment and management; spatial analysis at local, regional and international scales; governance; and implementation of EU Environmental Directives. More specifically, they include the analysis of the response of coastal and estuarine ecosystems to pressures of anthropogenic origin, through the study of land use and land cover; assessment and mapping of ecosystem services (ES); estimation of spatial carrying capacity; and research on the relationship between coastal systems and climate change.

Graduated in Biology, MSc in GIS and PhD in Biosciences, she has also attended several advanced and short-term courses and workshops in thematic areas such as Ecosystem Mapping; Ecosystem Services Assessment; Environmental Modelling; and GIS and statistical software.
She has proven experience in science management, having participated as a PI, project manager, task leader, team member and/or collaborator in international and national projects; and has demonstrated success in grant writing and fundraising, securing national and international funds, as a PI. She has also proven experience in teaching, student supervision and science communication.
