Activities
Mathabo is a marine scientist with an MSc. in
Applied Ocean Science. She has interests in water quality monitoring and
data analysis. She is currently a Lecturer in the Conservation and
Marine Science Department at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology
and a doctoral student in Conservation Science. Her doctoral research
focuses on integrating ocean modeling and 3-dimensional volumetric
classifications to define the pelagic ecosystem extents in the
KwaZulu-Natal Bight, South Africa.
With four years of experience
in the marine environmental consulting industry, she has contributed to
various projects including desalination, marine outfalls, oil and gas,
and port developments in South Africa. Her expertise lies in marine
environmental research, impact assessments, programming (Python and
MATLAB), GIS, and report writing.
