I started in 1990 working with the gillnet fishery targeting Galeorhinus galeus (and secondarily Squatina guggenheim). Then I studied the discarding and survival of elasmobranchs in trawl nets. At the same time, I became interested in the reproductive biology of elasmobranchs (G. galeus, Mustelus schmitti, Squalus acanthias and several species of skates and rays). I am currently studying the relationship between lecithotrophy and matrotrophy in sharks. I have also developed skills/experience in curating ichthyological collections.

South Atlantic Ocean

My research is about the life history, fisheries and taxonomy of Argentine chondrichthyans (sharks, rays and chimaeras). I am also studying coastal fisheries in the South of Buenos Aires province, and develop a tagging program for sharks.
