Dr. Ge Peng currently supports data governance activities for the NASA Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) Project. Her interests include advancing the sharing, interoperability, and stewardship of Earth science data, as well as studying climate variability in Earth system variables such as temperature, wind, and sea ice concentration.
Arctic Ocean
Dr. Peng has more than twenty years of technical experience in data analysis and ocean and atmosphere modeling, including model development, implementation, application, process study, and validation. She specializes in applying statistical analysis and numerical models to both atmospheric and oceanic systems to examine seasonal, interannual, and decadal variability.
Dr. Peng also has extensive experience in assimilating in situ and satellite measurements into models and assessing the impacts of data assimilation on weather and climate predictions. In addition, she has knowledge of NOAA scientific data appraisal and archival procedures, the Open Archival Information System Reference Model, national and international data formats and metadata standards, and the life cycle of scientific data preservation and stewardship.
