Activities
Silva is currently a Master's student in Biological Oceanography and a
member of the Coastal Plant Ecology Laboratory - ECOVECO / FURG. His research
focuses on Blue Carbon, specifically investigating and testing hypotheses about
Underwater Aquatic Vegetation (UAV), its carbon stocks and fluxes in sediment,
and its contribution to global carbon sequestration. Silva holds a Bachelor's
Degree in Oceanography and is a certified environmental technician. He is
foundation and has experience as a technical supervisor for Caaporã- coastal
vegetation (www.mudascaapora.com), as well as being involved in various
research projects, such as the Toninhas project, where he assisted with
biodiversity monitoring during the industrial fishing landings. Silva has also
worked as a scientific technician in monitoring biodiversity during industrial
fishing landings and providing scientific support. In addition, he has
contributed to various environmental projects and initiatives, such as the
"Green Room Itajaí Exhibition Space" and the "Trail of
Life" project of the Environmental Education Laboratory (LEA)-UNIVALI. He
has also participated in the participatory socioeconomic-ecological monitoring
of artisanal fishing in Conservation Units along the southern and southeastern
coast of Brazil as part of the Pilot Project SocMon-Brazil. Silva has worked in
the Secretariat of the Environment - SEMAM of Balneário Camboriú, providing
support in creating, coordinating, and maintaining environmental projects,
environmental analyses, environmental education, research, inspections for
environmental licensing, wildlife rescues, among other activities. He is a
founding member and former member of the fiscal council of the Pro-Nature
Conservation and Research Institute located in Balneário Camboriú, SC. In
addition, he served as the President of the Academic Center of Oceanography -
CAO - at UNIVALI from 2016 to 2017 and as a member of the Coastal Plant Ecology
Laboratory -UNIVALI from 2016 to 2018.
