Md Ilias Miah is an ocean-climate policy advocate and civil society leader working at the intersection of marine conservation, climate justice, and community resilience in coastal regions of Bangladesh.
Through the Centre for Environment, Human Rights & Development Forum (CEHRDF), he leads initiatives focused on protecting marine ecosystems in the Bay of Bengal, addressing plastic pollution, and strengthening the resilience of climate-vulnerable coastal communities. His work includes organizing coastal clean-up campaigns, promoting sustainable fisheries practices, and advocating for policies that reduce marine pollution and protect biodiversity.
He is the President of High Sea Initiative & the Bay of Bengal Network of Plastic Pollution Prevention, where he mobilizes youth, researchers, and policymakers to tackle ocean plastic through regional collaboration. He also actively contributes to global climate and ocean dialogues, representing civil society voices in international forums, including United Nations platforms.
His work emphasizes nature-based solutions, community-led adaptation, and the rights of climate-affected populations, particularly climate refugees in coastal and marine-dependent communities.
