Activities
Long-term monitoring of fish assemblages in coastal lagoon ecosystems of southern Brazil, integrating fish community ecology, fisheries science, and fishers’ traditional ecological knowledge (local ecological knowledge, LEK). Research focuses on ichthyofauna composition, trophic structure, temporal dynamics, and community assembly mechanisms in estuarine and lagoon environments. Activities include the co-production of ecological knowledge with artisanal fishers, incorporating local observations on species occurrence, habitat use, seasonality, environmental variability, and fishing practices to support the interpretation of biodiversity patterns and small-scale fisheries dynamics. Analytical approaches include taxonimic, functional and phylogenetic diversity metrics (FRic, FEve, Rao’s Q, Faith’s PD), CPUE standardization, allometric analyses, and multivariate statistical modeling in R.

I am a marine ichthyologist and community ecologist with long-term experience in coastal lagoon monitoring, fisheries-dependent data collection, and the integration of traditional ecological knowledge from artisanal fishers into ecological interpretation and resource assessment. My research focuses on fish community structure, functional and phylogenetic diversity, reproductive ecology, and the effects of environmental variability on estuarine and lagoon systems in southern Brazil.
