I am a Marine Biologist born and raised at the coastal city of Valparaíso, located right in the middle of Chile. In 2010, just after finishing my undergraduate studies, I started working at Universidad de Valparaíso. I lead the algal research lab, teach two subjects (Marine Botany and Phycology), edit Web of Science journal “Revista de Biología Marina y Oceanografía” and take part in various environmental engagement activities that combine innovation, art and science, such as the immersive documentary “Cultura Oceánica en 360°” (i.e., Ocean Literacy in 360°). This production was based on the seven essential ocean literacy principles and was endorsed by UNESCO.
Currently I belong to IOC-UNESCO Ocean Literacy Group of Experts and Chilean Ocean Literacy Group (i.e., Grupo de Trabajo de Cultura Oceánica del Comité Oceanográfico Nacional, CONA).
