Activities
I am a Biologist, with a master’s
degree in marine biology and a PhD in Marine Sciences, currently a postdoctoral
fellow at Cinvestav in Merida, Yucatan. Since my academic training I have been
dedicated to conserving the terrestrial and marine environment. My work focuses
on the study of biodiversity conservation of coral reefs in the Caribbean Sea,
with the application of reef restoration methods and management of key benthic
organisms to mitigate the consequences of climate change. Since 2021 I joined Blue
Schools where I have dedicated myself to the dissemination of ocean care, the
promotion of ocean culture and literacy, in the co-organization of outreach
events in environmental fairs, talks in schools and to the general public, as
well as collaboration in the development of educational materials (memory
games, lottery, puzzles, etc.), to convey the knowledge of the components of
the ocean in a more friendly and easy to work with way. I am currently the
coordinator of the Yucatan branch of Blue Schools México.
