Activities
I'm a marine biologist with experience in data management and analysis.
In the last 3 years, I have worked as a marine mammal observer (MMO) and passive acoustic monitoring operator (PAM operator) on vessels for the offshore industry, being responsible for the implementation of mitigation activities to avoid or reduce the impact on marine fauna as well as to standardize the occurrences and behavior of the sighted species for a better understanding of the possible effects of this activity, as well as to expand the baseline information.
In early 2023 I participated as an observer in the Ballen Whale Population Survey of the University of Tasmania, New Zealand and funded by the Antarctic Wildlife Research Foundation aboard the National Geographic Resolution on its way through Antarctica, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and the Falkland Islands. Activities included actively monitoring the sea surface for whales and collecting sightings data using the line transect distance sampling method. The objective of the study is to provide a spatiotemporally explicit estimate of the abundance and distribution of baleen whales in the southwest Atlantic feeding grounds in order to understand the possible overlap with krill fishing activity.
I have developed and executed research projects on invertebrate taxonomy and ecology, with emphasis on annelids and animal physiology, investigating in corals, effects of marine acidification on the activity of regulatory enzymes of energy metabolism in climate change scenarios.
As a field and laboratory technician, I executed experimental designs related to the biological control of insects and the ecological study of parasitism systems for the development of sanitary plans.
