Research
My research focuses on how resilient coastal ecosystems are (or can be) towards anthropogenic and climate change impacts by studying different dimensions of diversity, their context-dependency, and effects on ecosystem functioning. I have worked with field and experimental approaches, ecological numerical modelling, among others, and combined this with science-stakeholder methods to propose management recommendations in aquatic ecosystems, targeting a more sustainable use of biological resources.
Currently, I am interested in the value of habitat-forming species and their associated benthic communities as nature-based solutions to mitigate and adapt to climate change and other hazards. I am also interested in science communication and outreach to promote ocean literacy among society.North Atlantic Ocean
