Researcher at Coppe, The Alberto Luiz Coimbra Institute for Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro - UFRJ, since 1989. I'm an electronic engineer with a M.Sc in Oceanographic Instrumentation (1994) and PhD in Ocean Engineering with emphasis on hydrodynamics (2007). I was one of the founders of the Oceanographic Instrumentation Laboratory (1990) and of the Ocean Technology Laboratory (2003), one of the biggest ocean basin in the world, where I was the first facility manager. Having developed dozens of R&D projects and supervised undergraduate and graduate students. Nowadays, I work on: data acquisition, analysis and processing; development and deployment of metocean instruments and metrology for Oceanographic Instrumentation. I'm the coordinator of the GOOS/Brazil Instrumentation and Ocean Observation Best Practices Working Group and of the Oceanographic Instrumentation Subnet of the National Ocean Observation and Monitoring Network of the CNPq (National Council for Scientific and Technological Development).
