Activities
The Coastal and Marine Management
Department is in charge of:
·
Generating technical inputs and advice on strategic
planning related to environmental management in the coastal and marine ecosystems.
·
Carrying out plans, programs and projects for the
sustainable development of the coastal and marine areas.
·
Contributing to marine species conservation plans.
·
Contributing to the design of marine ecosystem
conservation programs.
·
Designing and implement Marine Protected Areas and Marine Spacial Planning.
Skills
Background in biology and research to generate conservation plans for ecosystems and species.
Specialised in planning for the conservation of areas, leading several processes for the creation of protected areas and the elaboration of management plans for protected areas. Both at terrestrial and coastal-marine level.
Ability to articulate participation and negotiation processes. Ability to lead planning processes based on the best available science and in articulation with stakeholders.
Knowledge of the public and private institutions linked to the economic activities that take place in the Uruguayan Marine Space, with which I currently work through my role in the Ministry of Environment.
