As a dedicated professional with a strong background in environmental science and conservation, I have honed a diverse set of skills that are essential for managing and contributing to successful projects in the field. My experience as a Franklinia Project Officer at the Seychelles Island Foundation (SIF) has equipped me with robust project management skills, enabling me to oversee weekly planning, report writing, and the coordination of project meetings with ease. My proficiency in GIS mapping, particularly with QGIS, has been instrumental in creating detailed maps and plans for conservation projects, enhancing our ability to visualize and understand spatial data. This skill has been invaluable in my role at SIF and in previous work experiences. Data collection and management are areas where I excel, having used Cyber Tracker for efficient data entry and verification. My ability to manage and analyze large datasets has been a cornerstone of my professional contributions, ensuring that our projects are grounded in solid data and analysis. My extensive fieldwork experience has enriched my understanding of environmental research and conservation efforts. I am adept at species observation, measurement, and data collection, which are critical components of my work. Report writing is a skill I take pride in, as it allows me to communicate complex findings and project updates clearly and effectively to stakeholders. My reports are known for their comprehensiveness and informativeness. Collaboration and communication are at the heart of my professional approach. I have worked seamlessly with both local and international teams, fostering a collaborative environment that ensures the successful completion of our shared objectives. Contributing to policy development and action plans for species protection has been a rewarding aspect of my career. It has allowed me to apply my knowledge and experience to create meaningful change in conservation efforts. Technical skills such as using Microsoft Office and R-studio are second nature to me, enabling me to perform data analysis and management tasks with efficiency and accuracy. In the realm of conservation practices, I have hands-on experience with activities like turtle tagging, species identification, and scientific monitoring, which are vital for the protection and study of wildlife. My time at the Seychelles Fishing Authority (SFA) has provided me with a deep understanding of fisheries science, including fish handling, species identification, and data collection on fishing vessels, which are crucial for sustainable fisheries management. Training and leading staff is a responsibility I have undertaken with enthusiasm, ensuring that our teams are well-equipped to meet the challenges of their roles. Lastly, my training in firefighting and first aid has prepared me to handle emergencies effectively, adding an important layer of safety and preparedness to my skill set.
