Conducting comprehensive assessments of water and sediment quality to evaluate the impacts of industrialization, urbanization, and natural processes on river health, providing scientific evidence for environmental monitoring and sustainable water resource management.
2. Hydrobiological and Bioassessment of the Warri River (Ubeji Axis), Niger Delta, Nigeria
Investigating the diversity, distribution, and ecological responses of plankton, macroinvertebrates, fish, and other aquatic organisms as biological indicators of ecosystem integrity, pollution, and environmental change.
3. Ecological and Biological Assessment of Freshwater Prawns in the Warri River, Delta State, Nigeria
Researching the ecology, reproductive biology, population dynamics, and fisheries status of indigenous freshwater prawns to support biodiversity conservation, sustainable fisheries management, and ecosystem-based resource management.
4. Freshwater Prawn Conservation Initiative – Ubeji Axis, Niger Delta, Nigeria
Leading community-based conservation initiatives focused on protecting indigenous freshwater prawn populations through scientific research, habitat restoration, environmental education, sustainable harvesting practices, and stakeholder engagement.
5. Community-Led Restoration and Sustainable Blue Economy Initiative in the Gulf of Guinea
Leading multidisciplinary conservation programmes through the Biome Conserve Initiative (BCI) that restore freshwater and coastal ecosystems, reduce pollution, promote circular economy solutions, strengthen sustainable aquaculture, conserve biodiversity, and empower local communities across the Gulf of Guinea.
6. Sustainable Aquaculture and Indigenous Aquatic Species Conservation
Developing innovative, climate-resilient aquaculture systems that enhance food security, conserve native aquatic biodiversity, reduce pressure on wild fisheries, and promote sustainable livelihoods within coastal and riverine communities.
7. Satellite-Based Assessment of Phytoplankton Size Structure in River-Influenced Coastal Waters of the Gulf of Guinea (Forcados, Nigeria)
Applying satellite remote sensing and field observations to investigate phytoplankton community structure, primary productivity, nutrient dynamics, and land–ocean interactions to improve understanding of coastal ecosystem health and climate resilience.
8. Eco-Exposome Assessment of the Warri River Continuum
Investigating how cumulative exposure to heavy metals and multiple environmental stressors influences ecosystem functioning, biodiversity, ecological resilience, and aquatic food webs by integrating hydrobiology, environmental chemistry, functional trait ecology, GIS, remote sensing, and ecological modelling.
9. Water Quality, Ecotoxicology, and Environmental Risk Assessment
Assessing water quality, sediment contamination, pollutant bioaccumulation, ecological risks, and potential human health impacts to support evidence-based management of freshwater, estuarine, and coastal ecosystems.
10. Geospatial Technologies for Aquatic Ecosystem Monitoring
Applying Geographic Information Systems (GIS), satellite remote sensing, Earth observation, spatial modelling, and environmental data analytics to monitor ecosystem dynamics, watershed processes, coastal change, pollution, and environmental degradation.
11. Biodiversity Assessment and Functional Ecology of Aquatic Ecosystems
Examining species diversity, ecological interactions, functional traits, ecosystem metabolism, and biological responses to environmental stressors across freshwater, estuarine, and coastal ecosystems to support conservation planning and ecosystem restoration.
12. Capacity Building, Ocean Literacy, and Community Engagement
Designing and implementing environmental education, citizen science, youth leadership, and capacity-building programmes that strengthen ocean literacy, promote community participation, and foster long-term stewardship of freshwater and marine ecosystems.
13. International Ocean Science and UNESCO Engagement
Recognized by UNESCO-IOC through the Blue Thread Initiative for contributions to ocean literacy and youth leadership. As a UNESCO Ocean Expert and member of the UNESCO Ocean Literacy Community, I contribute to international collaborations advancing ocean science, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, capacity building, and the objectives of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030).
