Activities
I hold a position as Professor in Department of
Fisheries and Marine Science, Noakhali Science and Technology University,
Bangladesh. Did my PhD at the University of Stirling, UK at the system
Aquaculture group under commonwealth scholarship program (2012-2016). I have 12
years of experience in conducting research related to brackishwater
aquaculture, aquatic food system, nutrition sensitive aquaculture, nexus
between aqua-food and public health and LCA of fish and fish products. The PhD
research mainly focused on seafood farming system in Bangladesh and it’s
interlink to local food security and global trade. This research focus was
later extended to form a consortium to work on developing a metrics to
understand nexus between seafood consumption and health outcomes of adolescent
girls to address critical 1000 days in LMICs settings. These research have
funded by IMMANA. Current position also
covers research on nutrition sensitive aquaculture, value chain, small-scale
fisheries (SSF), livelihoods and hidden harvest in coastal Bangladesh.
Independently and jointly supervise post-graduate research students from Europe
and LMICs. Key partner of inter-disciplinary research platform and leading
national research program.
