Andira Guzmán is a graduate of the Escuela Superior de Ecología Marina and holds a Master's in Marine Sciences from the Centro Interdisciplinario de Ciencias Marinas of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional and a Ph.D. in Marine Sciences from the Centro de Investigación y de Estudios Avanzados of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional, both renowned centers of academic excellence. She was awarded the Alonso Fernández Prize in the 2019 edition for the best doctoral thesis. She is a member of Mexico's National System of Researchers and has conducted research stays at CICY Yucatán; the LABEX "CORAIL" at CRIOBE in Perpignan, France; Marquette University, WI, USA; and the Universidad Veracruzana. She is the author of various publications in indexed international journals on topics such as molecular biology, molecular markers, and genetic connectivity of invasive species. Currently, she is the national coordinator of Escuelas Azules México.
