I am Akuwa Ewoe KPAKPO from Togo (West Africa). I hold a
Master’s degree in Ecology and Wildlife Resource Management and am currently pursuing
my PhD at the University of Lome. My research focus is on optimizing
post-harvest management of fishery resources along the Togolese coast for improving
the sustainability and profitability of the value chain. I am specialist in
ecology, natural resource management, and conservation, with extensive
experience in community engagement, scientific research in ichthyology and in
species conservation. I have extensive research experience with the Ecology and
Ecotoxicology Laboratory at the UL, and have taken part in missions to
inventory Togo's freshwater fish species (the Kara, Koumongou, Haho and Oti
rivers and the mares aux hippopotames d’Afito) and setting up a data collection
system for wildlife and ecosystem services in the Maritime region (Togo). I
play an active role in implementing the natural resource conservation projects
of the NGO AGBO-ZEGUE. I have also worked with the NGO Centre de Développement
des Actions Communautaires (CDAC) on several projects for the creation of the
Mono Transfrontier Biosphere Reserve and the organization of riparian
communities at the Afito hippopotamus pond complex, financed by GIZ and
FFEM/IUCN. I also took part in drawing up the community development plans for
Golfe 5, Vo 1, Vo 2 and Vo 4, and have attended several professional training
courses in environmental assessment of development projects, team and conflict
management and gender approach to natural resource conservation.
