Activities
Dr. Ibrahim Zia is an
accomplished professional currently serving as the Principal Scientific Officer
at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO). With a career spanning over a
decade, I joined the NIO in 2006 as a Research Officer and completed my
Ph. D in the due course from the University of Karachi in 2019 with his research
focused on “Studying Shoreline Changes along Karachi Coast using Remote Sensing
and GIS Techniques.”
I have over 30 publications
to my name and hold active participation in numerous national and
international Conferences as well as Research Cruises. He possesses exceptional
proficiency in handling and processing Oceanographic as well as Satellite data,
listing him amongst the few individuals in Pakistan skilled in operating
oceanographic instruments and conducting hydrographic surveys.
I have completed various
projects as a Technical Lead and hold an additional charge of Project Director
for the PSDP's “Monitoring Sea water intrusion, sea level rise, coastal
erosion, and land subsidence along the Sindh and Balochistan Coast”. He
established the Integrated Physical Oceanography Lab (IPOL) at NIO to handle
the Physical oceanography, Meteorological and Ocean remote sensing. His
expertise has earned him recognition as a sought-after Guest/Keynote Speaker at
multinational events, including conferences, workshops, and seminars, where he
shares his expertise in Physical Oceanography and Marine GIS/RS. My expertise
in the integration of Physical Oceanography and Geospatial Technologies is widely
acknowledged.
