Compound and Dissecting Microscope, phytoplankton Culturing (with aseptic technique), fluorometers, cell counter, fish sedation, pit tagging, mixing chemical solutions, preserving samples, and general lab maintenance.  

Computer: 

Proficient in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint. R Statistical software, ArcGIS, Ocean Floor Observation Protocol, ImageJ software. Image analysis and database/literature research.

Technical: 

SCUBA Open Water, WHMIS, CCAC Fish and Lab Animal Certifications, First aid with Emergency CPR-C (2015), marine animal handling/care/maintenance.

Key Concepts: 

Scientific Writing and Presentations, Ecology, Oceanography, Analysis of Biological Data, Statistics and Spatial Statistics, Deep-sea conservation, Deep-sea corals.

Field Work: 

ROV and drop-camera surveys/planning. From previous courses and jobs - Fish transect survey and minnow traps. Intertidal sediment cores, quadrats of rocky shore, sandy beach, and mudflat. Shark fishing, tagging, and data collection. Scientific SCUBA diving including photography, cage building, air lifts, measurements, census, and experiments. Marine mammal and bird identification.
