Subject Area
Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology
Activities
I study the taxonomy, assemblage composition,
abundance and biomass of marine phytoplankton, particularly diatoms, from coastal
Antarctica, the Argentine Sea and the Arctic Ocean. Seawaters samples for this
work have been collected within the framework of different research projects
(such as the 2007-2008 International Polar Year Canada-Three-Oceans; 2008-2010 Free-drifting
Icebergs as Proliferating Dispersion Sites of Iron Enrichment, Organic Carbon
Production and Export in the Southern Ocean; 2018-2019 Estudio de la Biodiversidad de Diatomeas Bentónicas en Áreas Costeras del
Golfo San Jorge; 2019-2020 Linking Inuit Hunting and Fishing to Primary
Productivity in Greenland Fjords; 2021-2024
Estudio de las comunidades microalgales planctónicas y simpágicas de Antártida.
Especial
énfasis en el grupo de las diatomeas) and research cruises in which I participated.
Results are regularly published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
