Activities
Study of phytoplankton variability patterns, phenology, drivers and predictors, combining in situ observations, remote sensing, and models.
Also, I'm currently working on coastal dynamics, assessing and comparing the geomorphic evolution of various landforms across different regions, through the use of hypsometric curves.
Skills
Capacity to work with the operative systems Windows and Linux;
Experience in scientific format files with the NETCDF library;
Competent with Microsoft Office programs and with bibliography management tools;
Competent with the statistical software R, Gretl, and SPSS;
Management of data analysis software, such as MATLAB, QGIS, Integrated Data Viewer, and Ocean Data View;
Management of the Lagrangian tool Connectivity Modeling System (CMS);
Experience in physical, chemical and biological data collection and analysis (in situ, remotely sensed and modelled); various statistical analysis (spatio-temporal, correlation, multivariate, distribution, principal component analysis, similarity percentages), with special interest on Generalized Additive Models (GAM);
Experience in collecting physical data with oceanographic instruments such as CTD-Rosette and Microprofiler, as well as collecting, processing, and storing samples in the lab obtained with Fitoplankton and Zooplankton nets;
Capacity to perform lab analysis for selected nutrients and suspended solids.
