Activities
Facilitate the planning, logistics, and preparation of fieldwork activities. Assist in the preparation of project proposals and contracts. Assist with the preparation of contracts requests, Letters of Agreement, etc. Contribute to the scheduling of the work plan and preparation of timelines and budgets for surveys and processing workflows.
Facilitate the acquisition of new data. Perform data quality control, including reviewing data for completeness and accuracy. Run day-to-day tasks during field surveys and be accountable for the operation of survey equipment and quality control of acquired data (e.g. topographic data, sediment samples, etc.). Undertake basic trouble shooting and solve varied problems as they arise during field operations under supervision. Follow OHS guidelines during fieldwork and be responsible for temporary labourers/staff on attachment where appropriate.
Assist the Team Leader, Oceanography with technical training and capacity building initiatives to ensure increased capacity in geospatial science and geoscience in the Pacific region.
Provide administrative and logistical support training and capacity building activities regarding coastal survey technics, data processing, GIS analysis, GPS applications, and other tools.
Support the preparation of training manuals and data for country trainings.
Support trainees during country and inhouse training at SPC.
Support the delivery of technical service in processing, analysis, and visualisation of spatial and non-spatial data
Undertake manipulation of data collected, e.g. post processing of geospatial data on GIS
Support data analysis and interpretation
Prepare reports and maps
Process and further integrate information into GIS and portal and databases to strengthen and enhance SPC's data and information sources.
Prepare and conduct presentations at meetings and conferences
