- Focal point for the ‘International Year of the Reef, (IYOR) 2008’campaign for Egypt.
- Committee member of Mediterranean Seagrass Association.
- Translating from English into Arabic five guidelines (educational and awareness materials that ICRAN, in collaboration with the Emirates Diving Association and the Coral Reef Alliance, produced to raise awareness of responsible tourism practices around coral reefs distributed throughout the Middle East region).
- Member of UNESCO-Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) committee of Egypt.
- Scientific Committee member for the Mediterranean Seagrass Workshop, Croatia.
- Participated in the advanced training course "Establishment and Management of Marine Protected Areas for fisheries" Zaragoza, Spain.
