Deep ocean workshop
Meeting
30 March - 01 April 2011
1 rue Miollis
75015 Paris
France
Organizer & Staff
Participation
By invitation only.
Strawman objective: Develop a common statement of requirements and a first strategy for sustained global deep ocean observations for climate; considering all Essential Climate Variables, regions, and technologies to extract high priority and feasible actions for the next 5-10 years. The working definition (up for debate) of 'deep' is > 2 km depth. The workshop will run Wednesday-Friday 30 March - 1 April 2011. A brief 15th meeting of the Ocean Observations Panel for Climate (OOPC) will follow on immediately from the workshop and end Saturday 2 April 2011. Logistics Information about travel to Paris and hotels, as well as finding your way to the IOC, is available at ioc-goos.org/visiting. Participants are requested to make their own hotel reservations. If you require an invitation letter for visa purposes, please don't hesitate to ask. The workshop will be held in the UNESCO-Miollis complex (entrance at 1 rue Miollis), in Salle XIII on Wednesday and Salle XIV on Thursday and Friday. Signs will guide your way, both are in the Bonvin building on the -2 level. A reception for participants and guests will be held in the Miollis Bar at 18:00 on Wednesday 30 March.
