shipping as a source of acidification in the Baltic Sea - effects on Baltic microbial
communities, and sustainable development of microorganisms as a source of
biofuel and different applications of biogenic silica, are currently my major
research interests. For more basic (and applied) research I am focusing on the
ecology and ecophysiology of aquatic microbenthic and pelagic communities with
respect to effects related to climate change: temperature, ocean acidification
and altered radiation. I have a special interest in microalgae (diatoms) and Baltic
cyanobacteria.
